Edit Roles

1. About feature

The "Edit Role" feature in VisionSync allows you to modify any existing roles with customized permissions. This feature is useful if you need to update the permissions or access rights of a specific role in response to changing business requirements.

2. Screen explanation

To access the "Edit Role" feature in VisionSync, you need to log in to your account and navigate to the "Role" section of the dashboard. From there, you can access the "Roles List" and click on the "Edit" button next to the role you want to modify. The “Edit Role” screen contains the following elements

a. Role Name (Required): This field is populated with the existing role name.

b. Set Permissions (Required): This list contains the set of permissions available in the system. Administrators can select the permissions for the role from the available set of permissions. While editing, the list is already populated with the existing permission set.

3. How to perform this feature/functionality?

a. Log in to your VisionSync account using your existing credentials.

b. Click on the "Role" button from the More dropdown in the Top-Navigation Bar.

c. You will be navigated to the “Roles and Permissions” page where you will see the list of all the existing roles.

d. Locate the role you want to edit and click on the "Edit" button next to it.

e. Modify the permissions of the role as needed. You can add or remove permissions by checking or unchecking the boxes.

f. Review the modified role, and click on the "Save and Create" button to apply the changes.

4. Expected Result

After following the above steps, users should be able to modify the permissions and access rights of an existing system-level role in VisionSync. The changes should be reflected in the "Roles List" and affect all users assigned to the modified role.

5. Dependency or Restriction

a. System-level roles can be edited by the administrators of the system by default and anyone who has permission to manage these roles and permission.

b. The permissions that are underlined are the system-level permissions and can be attached to the roles that are going to be assigned to users at the parent organization level only. If a user tries to edit a role that is NOT assigned to a parent organization by attaching a system-level permission, the system will show you an error message.
