Add/Edit Contribution Levels in Strategic Framework
1. About feature
The Contribution Levels feature in VisionSync allows administrators to assign strategic value tiers to initiatives without using complex numeric weighting. Instead of manually entering weights, users choose from predefined Contribution Levels—each with a name, point value, color code, and optional hint text. These tiers represent the strategic importance of an actionable item (initiative) in achieving a given metric. By standardizing contribution values, organizations can ensure consistent prioritization and simplify progress evaluation across strategic frameworks.
These levels are created by default for each strategic framework and can be customized as needed:
Contribution Level Name (Required): e.g., Core Catalyst
Points (Required): e.g., 100
Hint Text (Optional): e.g., Reserved for the most strategically essential initiative, without which the metric is unlikely to succeed
Color Code (Required): Used to visually distinguish contribution levels
Administrators can modify level names, points, hint texts, and colors to reflect the organization’s strategic context. Contribution level points should be incremental, and the highest level should always be capped at 100 points.
2. Screen explanation
Once a strategic framework is created, administrators can manage its Contribution Levels under the framework settings.
The “Strategic Framework - Settings” window contains a tab named "Contribution Levels", which includes:
a. Tabs: The settings window is divided into multiple sections—“Progress Measurements,” “Actionable item (Initiative) Status,” “Task Status,” “Progress Tracking,” “Actionable item (Initiative) User Roles,” and “Contribution Levels.”
b. Contribution Levels Form: This section allows admins to define strategic value tiers for actionable items by editing or adding Contribution Levels with associated point values.
c. Default Levels: Each framework includes a default set of Contribution Levels, which can be renamed or removed. These act as templates for customization.
d. Hint Text (Optional): Provides clarity about when to use a particular contribution level (e.g., what qualifies as a "Core Catalyst").
e. Color Code (Required): Allows visual differentiation between levels, supporting faster identification and better user experience.
f. Add Value Button: Enables the addition of a new Contribution Level to the framework.
g. Edit/Remove Buttons: Let users modify or delete existing levels.
h. Edit All Button: Allows bulk editing of all Contribution Levels in one view.
i. Save Button: Saves all changes made to Contribution Levels.
3. How to perform this feature/functionality?
a. Log in to your VisionSync account using your credentials. b. Click on the “Framework” option from the “More” dropdown in the Top-Navigation Bar. c. Select the strategic framework for which you want to add/edit Contribution Levels and click on the “Settings” button from the dropdown menu. d. In the “Strategic Framework - Settings” page, navigate to the “Contribution Levels” tab. e. To add a new level, click the “Add Value” button and enter the Name, Points, optional Hint Text, and Color Code. f. To edit an existing level, click the “Edit” button or use “Edit All” for bulk updates. g. To remove a level, click the “Remove” button beside it. h. Click the “Save” button to apply your changes.
4. Expected Result
Once Contribution Levels are added or edited, they will appear as selectable options when assigning contribution values to actionable items (initiatives). Each level will be displayed with its designated name, point value, hint text (if added), and color code. This ensures consistency in initiative evaluation across the organization.
5. Dependency or Restriction
a. Only users with administrator privileges or specific permission to edit strategic frameworks can access or modify Contribution Levels. b. The last contribution level must always have 100 points. c. Point values must be incrementally structured across levels (e.g., 25, 50, 75, 100).
