Edit User
1. About feature
The "Edit User" feature in VisionSync allows users to modify an existing user's account information, and change their organization entity or assigned role. This feature is useful when you want to update a user’s contact information and/or adjust their level of access.
2. Screen explanation
The “Edit User” screen contains the following elements.
a. User List: This section displays the list of users available in your organization's VisionSync account.
b. Edit User Form: This form allows you to modify the user's name, work phone number, work email address, job title, organization entity, and assigned role.
c. First Name (Required): This field allows you to modify the user's first name.
d. Last Name (Required): This field allows you to modify the user's last name.
e. Job Title (Required): This field allows you to modify the user's job title.
f. Work Phone: This field allows you to modify the user's work phone number.
g. Email (Required): This field allows you to modify the user's work email address.
h. Select Organization Entity (Required): This field allows administrators to modify users and associate them with any other organization entity in their organization.
i. Select Role (Required): This field allows the administrator to modify the role of the user in the selected organization entity. Role assignment will also update the user's capability to do all or some tasks in VisionSync as defined in the role.
j. Save Button: This button saves any changes you've made to the user's account
3. How to perform this feature/functionality?
a. Log in to your VisionSync account using your credentials.
b. Click on the User button from the left-side navigation bar.
c. You will be navigated to the All Users page.
d. Locate the user that you want to edit and click on the "Edit" button next to their name.
e. On the "Edit User" screen, modify the user's personal details in the appropriate fields.
f. Choose a new role against the organization entity for the user from the dropdown menu. The available roles will depend on the roles created by the administrator for your organization.
g. Add a new entity by clicking on the “Add Entity '' button. Select an organization entity and a role from the dropdown. This will add a user to a new organization entity with an appropriate role as defined by the administrators.
g. Click on the "Update User" button to update the user's account.
4. Expected Result
After following the above steps, you should be able to edit an existing user's account information in VisionSync using the "Edit User" feature. New organization entities and roles can also be assigned to the user using the same feature.
5. Dependency or Restriction
a. Users can only update the work email of a user with an email address provided by the organization and whitelisted by the administrators. Personal emails are restricted and are not allowed. Example - gmail.com, yahoo.com, reddifmail.com, outllook.com, etc.
b. The user should have at least one organization entity with the appropriate role assigned.
