Edit Labels and Sub Labels
1. About feature
Labels in VisionSync are used to categorize and organize data within a strategic plan. This feature allows users to edit existing labels used in the strategic plan. Labels are created and managed per organization entity, meaning each entity maintains its own set of labels. These labels appear only when creating actionable items (initiatives) within that same entity. During actionable item creation, labels created at a parent organization entity automatically become available in its child entities, but this inheritance is not reflected in the label creation or editing screen.
2. Screen explanation
The “Labels” window contains the following elements:
a. Label List: Displays the labels and sub-labels created for the selected organization entity in the strategic plan. Each label has one or more sub-labels along with options to edit or remove the label. A required checkbox indicates whether selecting a sub-label from that label group is mandatory when creating a strategic action item (initiative) at that same entity. Only labels belonging to the selected organization entity are shown in this screen; labels inherited from parent entities do not appear here.
b. Label Name (Required): This field captures the name of the label being edited.
c. Add Label Button: Allows users to add new labels to the strategic plan for the selected organization entity.
d. Required Checkbox: Specifies whether the label is mandatory or optional during strategic action item creation.
e. Sub-labels Field: Used to define or edit sub-labels within the label. Each label must have at least one sub-label, and sub-label names must be unique within that label group.
f. Back Button: Returns the user to the previous page.
g. Save & Submit Button: Saves the updated labels and sub-labels for the selected organization entity.
3. How to perform this feature/functionality?
a. Log in to your VisionSync account using your credentials.
b. From the left-side navigation bar, click on the Plan option.
c. The Strategic Plan screen will open, displaying a list of all strategic plans created within your organization.
d. To view labels for a plan, click on Label from the menu dropdown for that plan.
e. The Label window will open, displaying labels created for the selected organization entity only.
f. To edit a label, click the Edit button next to it and modify fields such as label name, required option, and sub-labels.
g. Click Save & Submit to apply the changes.
4. Expected Result
The label name and sub-label updates will be saved for the selected organization entity and will immediately reflect in the Labels list. During actionable item creation, users will see labels from their own entity plus any labels inherited from parent entities. However, only the selected entity’s labels are editable from this screen.
5. Dependency or Restriction
a. The labels option is visible only to administrators or users with permission to add or edit labels for the strategic plan.
b. Each label must contain at least one sub-label. No two sub-labels within the same label group may have identical names.
c. The label editing screen shows only the labels for the selected organization entity. Parent labels appear only during actionable item creation in child entities.
