Copy Strategic Action Item (Initiative)

1. About Feature

This feature allows users to create a duplicate of any strategic action item (Initiative) across the platform. Users can copy an initiative to the same or a different organization entity, within the same or different strategic plan hierarchies. Additionally, users can choose to copy associated items such as Users, Tasks, Comments, and Documents to the new location.

2. Screen Explanation

The “Copy Strategic Action Item (Initiative)” screen contains the following elements:

a. Kebab Menu: A three-dots dropdown available against every strategic action item, offering options like Copy, Move, Delete, and Add to Watchlist. b. Copy Window:  - Current Organization Entity: Displays the source entity where the initiative currently exists (non-editable).  - Copy to Organization Entity: A dropdown allowing the user to select the destination organization entity.  - Plan Version: Auto-loads based on the selected destination entity.  - Hierarchy Selector: Lets the user select the Vision → Goal → Strategy hierarchy where the copied initiative will be placed.  - Checkbox Options: Users can choose to copy the following items along with the initiative:   ☑ Users   ☑ Tasks   ☑ Comments   ☑ Documents   Only the selected items will be copied to the new initiative.

3. How to Perform this Feature/Functionality?

a. Log in to your VisionSync account using your credentials. b. From the Top-Navigation Bar, go to "Strategic Plan". c. Select “Build Plan” next to the relevant strategic plan. d. Choose the organization entity and review period from the top dropdowns. e. Navigate to the strategic action item (Initiative) you want to copy. f. Click on the three-dots (kebab) menu of the initiative and select “Copy”. g. The copy screen will appear. It shows:  - Current organization entity (non-editable)  - Dropdowns to select destination organization entity and plan version  - Vision → Goal → Strategy hierarchy tree  - Checkbox options for: Users, Tasks, Comments, Documents h. Select the destination organization entity, then choose the plan version and target hierarchy (Vision > Goal > Strategy). i. Check the items (Users, Tasks, Comments, Documents) you want to copy along with the initiative. j. Click "Save & Submit" to complete the copy.

4. Expected Result

A new strategic action item (Initiative) will be created in the selected location with all the checked associated items (Users, Tasks, Comments, Documents) duplicated from the original. It will be a separate and editable entity.

5. Dependencies and Restrictions

There are no restrictions on copying strategic action items. a. Initiatives can be copied across different organization entities, plans, and hierarchies. b. Only the items selected via checkboxes (Users, Tasks, Comments, Documents) will be copied. If left unchecked, they will not be included in the new initiative. c. Multiple copies of the same initiative can coexist across various plans and hierarchies.
